Customer Service Representative - Teller
Fond du Lac Festival Office - Part-time (25-32.99 hrs/wk) & Full-time
Summary
Under general supervision, but in accordance with established policies and procedures, performs a broad variety of customer services such as opening new checking, savings, certificate accounts, buying and selling travelers checks, handling savings bonds transactions, and answering questions concerning services provided by the bank from customers. Complete teller transactions, including cashing checks, processing deposits and withdrawals. Allows entry/access to safe deposit boxes, performs CIS input, operate proof, makes decisions on overdrafts, handle incoming and outgoing vault cash. Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Analyzing customer needs and explaining options such as single and joint ownership, revocable trust accounts, and various savings and certificate and checking account programs available. Suggesting the best alternatives for the customer and opening new accounts, gathering needed information, disseminating required disclosures, transferring funds from existing accounts, and/or preparing sight drafts to obtain funds from other sources.
- Prepares all paperwork and assists the customer in signing of documents necessary to process new accounts. Receives initial deposit and ensures that all new accounts are properly processed. Actively cross-sells the Bank's services in a professional manner. Follows up on all new accounts to make sure the customer is satisfied with the services provided.
- Receives checks and cash for deposit to savings and checking accounts, verifies deposit amounts, examines checks for endorsements and negotiability, and enters transactions into bank records via an on-line teller terminal.
- Cashes checks and pays money from savings and checking accounts upon verification of signatures and customer account balances. Inspects all checks, bonds, money orders, savings withdrawals, and so forth to determine their negotiability.
- Prepares collection forms for maturing savings bonds, counsels customers on the merits of the various investment options, and processes changes of ownership and exchanges of savings bonds.
- Informs customers about renewals of treasury securities and discusses their options.
- Answers questions and solves problems for customers concerning all services provided by the bank by listening to problems, collecting data, securing answers, and reporting results to the inquiring party.
- Handles some inquiries dealing with foreign check approvals and signature verification.
- Processes foreign currency transactions.
- Answers all related mail.
- Performs CIS input of new accounts and maintenance on deposit and loan accounts.
- Performs other duties as assigned or needed.
Skills and Abilities Required
- The interpersonal skills necessary to relate to and empathize with other people and to maintain a friendly, cheerful, and courteous demeanor through the day.
- Ability to operate a P.C. and other standard office equipment, including a calculator, typewriter, fax, coin counter and other office equipment as assigned.
- Ability to be mobile in order to look up information on the P.C. and move to different areas of the bank to complete a transaction or discuss a situation with another employee.
- A general knowledge of bank functions to back up other branch departments with needed.
Training and Preparation
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- At least six months of teller or bank related experience is very helpful to gain knowledge of all bank services available.
